Are you a ‘Boss Babe’? I sure am, although I prefer the word leader. If you’re anything like me, IPSY’s September Glam bag will be right up your alley. The black faux leather bag that’s covered with studs fits right into their ‘boss babe’ theme. This month IPSY teamed up with K-beauty guru Charlotte Cho, who was instrumental in getting the Korean skincare craze started in the U.S. Check her out at sokoglam.com
For those of you that are new to IPSY, it is a beauty bag subscription for only $10 a month. Each month they send you 5 products, both full size and deluxe samples, personalized to you based on how your filled out their makeup survey. It’s a really great way to build your makeup arsenal and try new brands/products for really cheap. From my experience the bags’ average retail value is about $55. Plus, every month they send your products in a (usually) cute makeup bag. Want to join the club? Sign up here.
Here are the 5 products I got in my September glam bag.
Colour Pop Ultra Glossy Lip in IPSY VIP
I was surprised at how much I liked this lip gloss from Colour Pop, as I’m not a big fan of some of their other products that I’ve tried. However, this had a really nice formula. It was light-weight, non-sticky, and pretty long lasting (for a gloss). I wasn’t a huge fan of the color, it was too pink for me, but it was nice to get a full sized product from IPSY - 2.41g - $6.00 on colourpop.com
Elizabeth Mott eye shadow in Gunmetal
Guys, I cannot tell you how much I love this eye shadow. If you are looking for a great all-around color that lasts all day, can be used by itself or as the base for a smokey eye, and is flattering on just about every skin tone, look no farther. Elizabeth Mott really hit the nail on the head with this eye shadow. With just a quick swipe across each lid you can a touch of sophistication to the busiest of mornings. I have literally worn this shadow for the last 5 days in a row, the only reason it hasn’t been longer is because I just got it. Believe me you don’t want to miss out on this eye shadow. deluxe sample - 0.7 grams $5.00 at elizabethmott.com
Skin Food black sugar wash off mask
I’ve been back and forth over this product. (which is why this post is a little late) Do I like it? Do I love it? Does it improve my skin? Testing skin care is much harder and takes longer than makeup as a rule, but it’s hard to evaluate a face mask especially without multiple uses. I came to the conclusion that I like this mask, it has the perfect amount of exfoliant, not too rough but enough to get your blood circulating, and it smooths and conditions your skin. I really like the smell, and the consistency is great, but I don’t think the results are amazing enough to go on my ‘loves’ list. Though time may prove this wrong, I didn’t notice anything special immediately after using this or the next morning. deluxe sample - $1 at sokoglam.com
Luxie Medium Angled Shading Brush 207
I really liked the size of this eye shadow brush. It was small enough to define my crease, yet big enough that it didn’t take years. The rose gold and pink handle is also adorable. Overall this is a nice brush but I didn’t think it was spectacular in any way. For those of you that care it is 100% vegan and cruelty free. - full size- $12.00 at luxiebeauty.com
GELIlusion Nail Polish in September
The last few nail polishes I’ve gotten from IPSY have all been vegan or sulfate free or something of that sort. So, it was no surprise to receive another “healthy” nail polish from them. What did surprise me was how well this nail polish applied and lasted. The polish was super opaque, so even if you only had time for one coat the coverage was still really good. Plus, it was really smooth and easy to apply evenly. I would definitely put this in the half-gel polish category. Meaning it’s in between a regular polish and a real gel one that you have to cure with a UV light. For a at-home mani without the expense of a $300 UV light, this is a pretty good substitute. $9.00 on amazon.com
Total retail value $33 + shipping
I’m pretty pleased with my products this month. I got three full size products, which is always great. The bag was fits me perfectly. And I absolutely love the eye shadow. Win Win Win!
