I want to start this month by thanking IPSY for not putting pumpkins on my glam bag. I have nothing against pumpkins. But I didn’t want a bag I could only use during October, without everyone wondering if I forgot that Halloween was last month.

Anyways, please let me know what you think of the bag’s design this month. I can’t make up my mind whether or not I like it. (though the bat detail on the zipper pull is a nice touch)

For those of you that are new to IPSY, it is a beauty bag subscription for only $10 a month. Each month they send you 5 products, both full size and deluxe samples, personalized to you based on how your filled out their makeup survey. It’s a really great way to build your makeup arsenal and try new brands/products for really cheap. From  my experience the bags’ average retail value is about $55. Plus, every month they send your products in a (usually) cute makeup bag. Want to join the club? Sign up here.

Here are the products I got this month…

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on eye pencil in Perversion

I already have and love a couple of UD’s 24/7 eyeliners so this was a no-brainer for me. If you believe a glide-on eye pencil is an oxymoron you need to try this one. It is so easy to apply anything from a simple outline to a full blown cat eye, because you have the control of a pencil, without any sacrifice of intensity. The one thing that you have to be careful of with these pencils is they tend to be a little crumbly when you sharpen them. I noticed this especially with the shimmery colors, but as a precaution throw those babies in the freezer for a couple of hours before you sharpen them. 0.8 g $15.00 Get the full size here.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

I wasn’t super excited to get this as I prefer to receive makeup more than skin care, but it does a pretty decent job. It acts just like a thick moisturizer, but it isn’t at all greasy, absorbs into your skin really fast, and can be used all over your body. I’m scared to try this all over my face because it will probably make me break out, but I like to use it as an eye cream, or to sooth cracked heels and scaly elbows and knees.  1oz $6

Dermalect Cosmeceuticals Nail Polish in What-a-gem

This is one of the most gourgeous shades of nail polish. A light pearly pink, with a light gold shimmer, that is luxurious and glam while still being an understated neutral that will go with everything. Plus, it is infused with peptides. Now this was news to me too, but it turns out peptides are as good for your nails as they are for your skin. They can strengthen and restore flexibility to your nails. And, according to dermalect.com, they provide anti-aging benefits to your nails.

I never thought about anti-aging nail products, but I guess it kinda makes sense. Now, I haven’t worn this polish enough to really notice any difference, but  with or without all the extra benefits it is still a great polish that has amazing coverage for such a light shade. I will definitely be using this again during the upcoming holiday season. Full Size!!! 0.4 fl oz $14.00 buy it here

Studio Makeup Gloss Coleur Intense in Kiss

If you’ve been here for a while you know how much I love a good lip gloss. This one certainly seemed to fit the bill, claiming to be non-sticky and long lasting. Plus, it was a great right-in-the-middle shade. So it’s not surprise that this was the item I was most looking to getting in my IPSY bag, however I was a little disappointed when it actually came.

It was way stickier that I was expecting, and the shade turned out to be not that flattering. It did last a decent amount of time, but maybe because I put on too much, as it is way to much fun to squeeze out of the little tube. So maybe I’m being a little too harsh, but this wasn’t a winner for me. It’s a pretty average lip gloss, but certainly didn’t live up to my expectations. 9.5 ml $9.00 buy it here

Smashbox Photo Finish lid primer in Light

Smashbox has really gotten the primer game down with their photo finish line. This was no exception. This primer is pretty dry compared to the others I’ve tried, but it doesn’t dry out my lids or get clumpy at all. Because it is a little thicker formulation, it has really great coverage and makes covering veins or splotchy eyelids a breeze.

I was surprised how well the shade “light” fit my skin tone, but that means it will probably be too dark for those of you with really fair skin.

The amazing thing about this primer is how well it ‘holds onto’ your eyeshadow. As a rule I have pretty greasy eyelids, and more especially right now as my skin is adjusting to a new skin care routine, but after wearing this all day (and rubbing my eyes multiple time because I was exhausted) my eyeshadow had no creasing and looked just as good as when I had put it on. Deluxe Sample .02 oz $5.25 buy the full size here

Total Retail Value = $49.25 + shipping

I’m pretty happy with my glam bag this month. I love the eye shadow primer and nail polish, and will definitely use the other three. The bag design wasn’t my favorite, but I’m so happy it didn’t have any pumpkins on it.
